The iPad! A really big iPod touch…
Well if you want my full overview of the iPad, Watch it at http://www.youtube.com/MacTipsPodcast
Aah. The long awaited Apple Tablet has finally arrived. It has a BEAUTIFUL 9.7″ Capacitive touch panel. (LED Backlit) It runs on Apple’s new 1ghz A4 Processor which should show some nice performance. It is very thin, and ligher than any netbook. It works with most of your favorite iPod Touch/iPhone applications from the app store, but it is lacking something. Well, it’s lacking most of what people expected. Personally, I was expecting a custom version of Leopard, Not a custom verison of iPhone OS.
Although, This device does browse the web, look at pictures, and display books like a champ. Other than the App Store, there’s not much more it can do. Granted, there is an iPad SDK coming out for developers, which should bring along some nice applications specifically for the iPad. Hopefully some major software companies like Adobe will start making some iPad versions of their softwares. (PHOTOSHOP MEH?)
But overall, the iPad is awesome for anybody chilling in starbucks that doesn’t want to carry around a chunky laptop. The iPad starts at just $499 with WiFi Only and 16gb of Flash Memory. There is also a 32gb and 64gb version in WiFi, and also available for 3g data coverage. (for an extra cost)
